Pep Boys is an American auto parts retail chain that offers all kinds of auto repair products for retail customers and professional mechanics alike. Pep Boys was founded by four Navy friends in 1921, opening its first store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Emanual “Manny” Rosenfeld, Maurice “Moe” Strauss, Moe Radavitz, and W. Graham “Jack” Jackson saw a need for auto repair products and accessories when the Ford Model-T, the first mass-produced automobile made through an assembly line, premiered and expanded automobile ownership throughout the United States. During the Great Depression, Pep Boys expanded to California, and in 1959 moved to its current headquarters location in Philadelphia. In 2009, Pep Boys began focusing on service, and today has over 800 locations nationwide with service facilities, and a comfortable, state-of-the-art waiting room for customers, to enhance their experience.
