Even though Fall is just around the corner September tends
to be the hottest month of the year. We tend to look forward
to the approaching holiday season; football kicks off;
baseball season curves its way towards the playoffs and
the kids are back in school. It’s time to reminisce about the
great summer that was and to celebrate the good tidings
to come. So enjoy this Labor Day weekend in style, fire
up the grill for that last hoorah and welcome the change
of seasons. Our knowledgeable wine staff has chosen a
cornucopia of wines to quench your thirst and stimulate
your palate. As always, enjoy and drink outside the box.

JOSEPH PERRIER
BRUT CUVEE ROYALE
RE G U L A R $52.99
GA ZE T T E S PE C I A L $34.99
Established in 1825, founder Joseph Perrier built a name
for this brand that has stood the test of time. Currently in
the 6th generation of family stewardship, Maison Joseph
Perrier is a classic in every sense. The style is lean, lively
and delicate, with almost equal proportions of Chardonnay,
Pinot Noir and Meunier. The roots in the community run as
deep as the vines into the hillsides searching for moisture
to survive. Its longevity is evidenced by the miles of chalk
and limestone caves that were dug into the mountains by
Gallo-Romans dating back to the 4th century. Nothing short
of awe inspiring, it is a sight to behold. The Cuvee Royale
is pure, vibrant and expressive, with stone fruits, apple,
citrus, ginger, almond and a deliciously lively and satiating
fine mousse that lingers for some time. Champagne is
experiencing a shortage with increasingly high demand so
opportunities like this are going to be fewer and further
between.

EXCELSIOR SOUTH AFRICA
CHARDONNAY
REG ULAR $11.99
GAZETTE SP E CIAL $8.99
The De Wets have always embraced innovation, and in
1969, Excelsior become the first wine estate in South
Africa to install drip irrigation. In 1981, a modern, state- of
the art winery was constructed with capacity to allow
for future expansion, in addition to producing a series of
delicious and approachable value wines. Excelsior also has
a long history of horse breeding. The estate’s longstanding
horse breeding tradition is reflected in the equine theme
of their wine labels. This crisp, mouthwatering bottling is
a blend of the estate’s three best Chardonnay blocks. It
displays lively flavors of green apple, citrus, and pineapple
on a full, creamy palate, traces of peach, orange blossom
and delicate toasty notes combine with a mineral edge to
round out this versatile everyday sipper, a consistent crowd
pleaser.

RE GULAR $19.99
GAZ E TTE SP E CI A L $16.99
90 Points Wine Spectator 2018
The wine is made from 4 different vineyards. As with
previous vintages, the wine shows an elegant minerality
with lime-citrus, sourdough and cinnamon flavors. The
tight minerality keeps a wonderful acid grip on the palate
showing good aging potential. There are some distinct
similarities to the flavors found in cooler Burgundian and
Chablis sites – perhaps most noticeably, Meursault. The
focus here is to make elegant wines that work with food.

DAOU PASO ROBLES
CHARDONNAY 2020
RE GULAR $22.99
GAZ E TTE SP E CI A L $18.99
Many times, it is difficult to find a wine that is dry but
pairs well with spicier foods. Look no further. This wine
is the perfect complement to many spicy dishes. This
offering from Daou is chalk full of tropical flavors and oak
influence but balanced out by bright acidity. It reminds one
of Lemon meringue pie in a bottle. The nose offers aromas
of tropical fruits and floral hints. More lush tropical fruit on
the palate with added lemon and spice. The oak gives this
wine a wonderful slightly buttery texture. Tropical fruits,
especially pineapple linger on the lovely finish as well.
