Let’s pray that May’s marine layer and lingering gloom have
abated and we can welcome in summer and its warm transition.
The month of June is a wonderfully charismatic time since there
are so many festivities and emotions associated with it - The
grills and barbeques are heating up and working overtime and
most weddings occur during this 30 day span. Our wine staff have
offered their favorite wine libations to aid, assist and fulfill any
situations or scenarios that may arise; And, of course, to help you
‘marry’ your favorite cuisine, be it fish, fowl, meat or veggies with
the wine suggestions below. And as always, drink outside the box.

GRUET BRUT SPARKLING WINE
RE G U L A R $19.99
GA ZE T T E S PE C I A L $14.99
Some of the Grands Marques of French Champagne set out
decades ago to conquer new lands, or vineyards rather,
starting with Moet Chandon, GH Mumm, Louis Roederer
and Taittinger selecting prime land in northern California
and leading the way to a host of others. Somewhere along
the way, Gilbert Gruet turned left instead and landed in
New Mexico. As odd as it seemed to me at the time, it was
immediately evident that this was a sound choice. Greater
Albuquerque is home to some ideal vineyards, which have
come to maturity and are impressive in their own right.
Sitting at more than 4000 ft above sea level, these high
elevation vineyards and their sandy soils seem contrary
to the chalk soils of Champagne, but the proof is in the
liquid. The Brut Cuvee is a marriage of Chardonnay and
Pinot Noir with tremendous finesse and balance, but with
a solid backbone. Citrus, green apple, blossom notes with
integrated spiced and a subtle lees character.
PAIR WITH ANYTHING FROM THE SEA, ROTISSERIE
CHICKEN, OR SALTY SNACKS.

persimmon on the back end. The body is light, bright and
mineral-laden with elegant textures.

GARCIAREVALO
CASAMARO VERDEJO
RE GULAR $13.99
GAZ E TTE SP E CI A L $10.99
Rueda is a D.O. in the region of Castile de Leon in
northwest Spain. This is a prodigious zone known mainly
for its zesty and brisk whites crafted from the indigenous
Verdejo grape. The plains are quite arid, the soils poor
and sandy, which in turn stress the vine limiting vigor and
causing smaller more concentrated berries. The flavors are
zesty, exhilarating and quite expressive, showing stone
fruits, pineapple, a delicate herbal note finishing with a
fleeting mineral saline component.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL SPRING/SUMMER SIPPER
WELL SUITED TO WHITE FISH, CEVICHE, TAPAS AND
MARINATED POULTRY.
